Responsibilities and Qualifications

Summary:

The Private Label Product Manager is responsible for developing and executing clearly defined marketing and communication strategies that drive revenue growth and enhance brand equity for new and existing products across the Emergency Medical and Public Safety market. This position requires an individual with strong brand management capabilities, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • P&L Management:  Forecast, track and adjust profit and loss statements to ensure that new product and/or channel launches meet financial goals. Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Accounting, and Operations to ensure the accurate tracking and management of revenue, COGS, and marketing spend.
  • Brand Management:  Utilize sales data, market data, pricing strategies, customer segmentation and competitive intelligence to identify new opportunities and markets to support the expansion of products and channels that drive revenue streams and build brand equity. Conduct product analysis to measure and report on programs and define targeted opportunities. Direct and develop all tactics and activities that support brand development and growth.
  • Marketing Strategy:  Develop, present and implement portfolio business plans for private label products including management of pricing, go-to-market strategies, and product positioning. Perform market research to uncover customer requirements and report on market opportunities and trends.  Create, execute and manage Sarnova marketing programs and materials to include company catalogs, online initiatives, advertising, sales force support materials, trade show marketing efforts, and supplier marketing programs. 
  • Vendor Relations: Manage external relationships with vendors of private label products to ensure common vision and strategy. Consult with vendors to identify product opportunities and mange product pipeline. Act as liaison to vendors throughout product life cycle.
  • Communication:  Develop and manage messaging strategies for private label products.  Drive messaging integration by collaborating with Marketing and Sales to instill a passion for product.  Establish and own the relationship with product manufacturer and develop cross-promotional programs. Develop compelling presentations and execute delivery to all levels of the organization and to external partners.
  • Training and Support:  Assist with the development of clinical training programs and product training for the Sales Team and other corporate personnel. Deliver materials both in person and via alternate training methodologies.

Qualifications:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field.  MBA strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years marketing experience in positions with direct brand management responsibility. Sourcing and/or private label experience helpful.
  • Experience in a value-added distribution industry, business-to-business selling environment, or the health care products industry desired.

 
Skills/Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated experience with product/category management, positioning, customer segmentation, pricing and communication strategies.
  • Vendor relations and negotiation experience.
  • Understanding of new product launch processes and/or rebranding coupled with an innovative, entrepreneurial mind set.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to plan and forecast on a national level and by product category.
  • Advanced planning capabilities including exceptional financial and analytical skills.
  • Experience working with and directing creative strategies and tactics.
  • Solid communication skills, including the ability to collaborate, influence and communicate at all levels.
  • Excellent presentation skills in small or large group settings.
  • Exceptional project management skills with a detail orientation.
  • Able to successfully work in a changing environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Computer literacy:  Microsoft Office Suite and Dynamics CRM.
  • Demonstrated positive energy to effectively represent products/brand internally and externally.
