Responsibilities and Qualifications



The Purchasing Manager will assist the Director of Purchasing to establish, maintain and manage policies and processes that provide effective and efficient product purchasing.  Position will be accountable for maintaining appropriate inventory levels, minimizing backorders and sustaining fill rate across warehouses.  In addition to providing direct supervision support for the purchasing team, this individual works collaboratively with accounting, sales, marketing and customer service to plan and purchase appropriate medical equipment and supplies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily activities to support procurement processes.  Contact suppliers to obtain product or service information, validate pricing and ship dates.  Maintain up-to-date delivery dates in systems visible to Customer Service and Sales team.  Follow-up on late deliveries and backordered items. 
  • Tracks and determines root causes and works to continuously reduce backorders.
  • Assists in utilizing, enhancing and maintaining the demand planning, forecasting and procurement system.  Ensures that Sarnova achieves a high fill rate on customer orders while achieving high inventory turns.
  • Continuously communicates with other Sarnova organizations to increase the performance of the purchasing department against defined metrics.
  • Evaluates, develops and implements procedures to improve department procedures, policies and efficiency.
  • Provides supervisory counseling, direction, and mentoring to team members. Supports recognition programs and provides fair and honest performance feedback.
  • Distributes internal information and provides training related to procurement and supply management policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes inventory trends and works with buyers and suppliers to ensure that inventory is optimized.  Uses creative ability to develop streamlined methodologies for inventory management.
  • Analyzes purchase materials and tracks trends in customer buying habits.  Provides recommendations to marketing regarding supplier and SKU consolidation. 


  • 5+ years procurement and demand management experience
  • Experience utilizing procurement and inventory tracking system
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products; strong Excel skills required

  • Strong organizational skills including effective time management skills.
  • Forward thinking and the ability to create a vision and see it through to implementation.
