Responsibilities and Qualifications


Manage and execute the timely and accurate completion of all payroll related functions, including the successful completion of bi-weekly payrolls, timely submission of payroll reports, garnishments and the timely payment of payroll taxes, maintaining and resolving issues with UltiPro HRIS, preparing and transmitting taxes and reports, resolving discrepancy reports, entering data online, processing W-2s and research and resolve payroll related issues.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and handle all information in a confidential manner, ensuring that all records are secure and not open to exposure.
  • Manage UltiPro – Payroll and Time Management (UTM).
  • Perform a detailed-level review of payroll processed on a bi-weekly basis to ensure accuracy and timely submission.
  • Responsible for filing Ohio BWC reports, workers comp reports, Department of Labor surveys and reporting third party sick pay.

  • Responsible for creating, reviewing and/or maintaining various reports such as 401K, Bonuses and Commissions, metrics for management, etc. in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Leads and directs employees, including assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, directing efforts, and providing technical guidance on more complex issues.  Provides training and daily work direction.  Provides input into hiring decisions and annual performance reviews.

  • Updates user policies and procedures based on any pay policy changes.

  • Review quarterly tax verification report, wage & tax report and master control.

  • Review tax notices and work with UltiPro to resolve, if necessary.

  • Responsible for reviewing and approving the payroll file that is electronically submitted to T. Rowe Price.  Respond to any requests that T. Rowe Price has regarding loan delinquencies or other reporting requirements.

  • Address employee’s inquiries with Payroll in a timely manner.

  • Develop and implement procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines.

  • Communicate actively with other departments and vendors to resolve issues.

  • Review departmental systems and processes periodically to ensure adherence to procedures and internal controls.

  • Make recommendations for technological enhancements to improve efficiency.

  • Manage Payroll record retention for Sarnova.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Ability to provide daily work direction, leadership, training, and development to staff.
  • Proficient and accurate computer skills including data entry.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or UltiPro.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills. Is conscientious and respectful of others within the organization.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Solid understanding of various state payroll laws and regulations.
  • 5 or more years of Payroll experience with multiple locations.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
