Responsibilities and Qualifications

Summary:

The Senior Human Resources Manager will be responsible for enhancing Sarnova’s collective capacity for performance through the continued focus on company culture, employee relations, and performance engagement & development at every stage of the employee life-cycle.  A key focus of the role will be to ensure the alignment of functional developmental needs with business priorities and the ultimate goal of maximizing organizational design.  Primary duties will include a wide range of responsibilities ranging from high-level strategic planning discussions to ground-level “sleeves rolled up” project work.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Influence, guide and reinforce Sarnova’s organizational culture through effective communication initiatives at every stage of the employee life-cycle.
  • Partner with both Training and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure departmental goal congruity and directional alignment in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent.
  • Manage and guide the company’s employee engagement work to include the annual survey process, action planning committee, and ongoing monitoring of workplace culture.
  • Lead and manage employee relations matters in a manner that is professional, collaborative, and consistent across the organization in accordance with the employee handbook.
  • Ensure best-in-class employee benefits through broker management, competitive benchmarking, annual renewal, open enrollment, and leadership of the 401(k) committee.
  • Lead HR compliance and required reporting (AAP, EEO, Vets, PPACA, etc.), distribution & posting of legal notices, and alignment of internal policies & procedures with federal & state regulations. 
  • Create and launch a comprehensive, inclusive, and sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility programs to support & celebrate the company’s position as an employer of choice.
  • Provide thought leadership and support for the Sarnova Cares internal charitable initiative.
  • Lead career path planning initiatives through the cross-functional coordination & stratification of competency models, organizational structures, and corresponding compensation levels.
  • Lead & execute the company’s talent assessment and succession planning programs and spearhead the resulting career development planning initiatives.
  • Research and monitor industry trends to ensure the company’s HR functions remain relevant, progressive, and focused on continuous improvement.
  • Take ownership of other necessary cultural leadership duties as identified and assigned in order to support the company’s mission, vision, values, and guiding principles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Training or business-related field (advanced degrees and/or related certifications a plus).
  • Ten years of related experience in positions of increasing responsibility and hands-on technical and leadership experience in multi-location organizations.
  • The ability to travel as needed (<10%) to company facilities, professional events, and industry training sessions.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to design and communicate programs and presentations to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong technical skills required within all areas of human resources including compensation, benefits, employee relations, compliance, training, performance management and appraisal, employment law.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven ability to build trust, gain support, and influence other leaders and staff to implement and manage change.
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills, and a positive, resourceful, can-do mindset.
  • Team player mentality with a confident, servant-leader approach.
  • Solid presentation skills and the ability to deliver effective training via multiple platforms.
  • Desire to become of a good student of the business, and the ability to understand and support the inter-working of multiple functions beyond HR/OD.
  • Very strong work ethic and the ability to define, measure, and exceed tangible goals.
  • High degrees of professional maturity, integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgement.
  • Strong MS Office skills and robust experience with HRIS software platforms.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve non-routine and complex office administrative problems.
  • Use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn and apply new information or skills; perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks.

 

Supervises:

  • HR Business Partner, HR Specialist, other functions as needed.
