    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Summary:

    The Transportation Manager will have responsibility for the management of all freight movement in and out of Sarnova Distribution Network to ensure routing compliance and best possible freight cost and service. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Ensure best economical utilization of carriers based on service parameters; interface with operations to resolve any problems associated with scheduling and dispatching; recommend programs to the director that improves transportation cost and or service.
    • Meet with carrier representatives to discuss base transportation related issues, freight negotiation, carrier performance, and review current practice versus potential improvements.
    • Recommend, train and implement (TMS) transportation management system in all distribution centers.
    • Develop and implement transition plans to support the entire supply chain.
    • Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
    • Conduct employee training sessions on hazardous material shipments.
    • Review process payments of freight bills to ensure invoice accuracy.
    • Develop and operate an effective transportation information reporting system; ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding transportation operations; and develop additional and/or enhanced reports to support distribution.
    • Support sales and marketing efforts as needed, to include transportation studies and analysis.
    • Ensure federal and state regulatory compliance within scope of position.

     

    Qualifications:  

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.

     

    Skills/Experience Required:

    • 3-5 year’s experience in transportation management.
    • Experience in freight negotiation.
    • Strong communicating, planning, and negotiating skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
    • Experience with Account Management within a logistics organization.
    • Fluency in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Word
